Patrick White, excited about Michigan State

Ohio Wide Receiver Patrick White is the third member of the senior class of 2009 at Pickerington Central High School in central Ohio to find his way into a recruiting class in the Big Ten. After receiving a number of major offers including Cincinnati, Oregon, Louisville, Kansas, Indiana, West Virginia and Michigan State, White committed to Michigan State.

Patrick White is having a very nice senior season after impressing recruiting experts and coaches across the country as a junior. As a teammate of Safety Jamie Wood and Linebacker Zach Boren, White may have not received the attention of other wide receivers of his skill level but his play speaks for itself. White recently told us about his ability on the football field “I would say my covering ability on defensive, knowledge of the game, and route running on offense.” He said.

As a senior he has put up great numbers for the early part of the season, “16 catches, 300 yards, 3 touchdowns, 25 tackles, 9 pass break-ups, and 1 interception.”

The highlight of his career so far was the state finals Pickerington North went to last season and committing to Michigan State for college. “Having the opportunity to go and commit to playing D1 college football free! Also going to the state finals!” he explained to us.

After some early interest from Ohio State, White has been pursued and fallen in love with the Spartans of East Lansing. “I go to Michigan State a lot I love it there. It just feels like home and the fans are awesome.” He said about his future university.

“A coach with a strong will to win and to know that the coaches and the team will be like a family. [I was also looking for] a team with a winning attitude and coaches who will bring the best out of us.  Coaches that will give us the best chance to make it to the next level!” is they way he describes what he was looking for when he studied all the schools that offered him a scholarship.

And the list of scholarship offers was impressive for the 5’11” recruit with 4.4 speed and a 34” vertical jump. “I have offers from West Virginia, Kansas, Louisville, Indiana, Cincinnati, Oregon and Michigan State, where I am committed.”

He added that Michigan State is a great opportunity with much to offer all incoming 2009 freshman. “It feels like home and the coaching staff is great. They are bringing MSU to the winning program that it should be at! Also the players there are real cool and it’s just like everyone there is a family which I love!”
