Malliciah Goodman, a Clemson Tiger for Life

Malliciah Goodman, a Clemson Tiger for Life

The #1 strong side defensive end in the country for the 2009 class, Malliciah Goodman, is set on Clemson for his college selection. With offers from Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, Goodman picked the Tigers early in 2008 and feels better about the school every time he visits.

By Steve Patterson

Enrolling Early

Following in the footsteps of Da’Quan Bowers, Goodman plans on enrolling into Clemson in January to get a jump start on classes and conditioning for the 2009 season. Goodman is a 6’4” 255 lbs Rivals 100 recruit who dominated high school offenses as a junior and continues to play well as a senior. We recently asked him about his play on the field. “My speed, size, aggressiveness and never quit attitude set me apart.” He explained to us.

Difficult to Block

He has the rare combination of size, strength, and speed that creates trouble of quarterbacks all game long. But he enjoys being a part of the team just as much as individual statistics. “Just playing with a great group of guys and coaching staff,” is what he’ll remember most about his high school career.

As a senior he’s off to a very good start with “10.5 sacks, I’m unsure about my tackles.” He ported to us. South Carolina West Florence features a number of highly recruited players including Avery Murray, who is committed to Maryland as a linebacker, and John Coleman, who will be attending Duke next year.

Looking forward to College

Goodman is excited about getting to Clemson and starting his college career. “I really like it at Clemson and I enjoy it even more every time I go.” He told us about the campus in South Carolina. Although the team is having a difficult year at 3-4 overall, 1-3 in conference play and Head Coach Tommy Bowden has resigned, a couple of good recruiting classes in a row should provide the talent a new coach needs to succeed.

What he liked most about Clemson was the atmosphere and the academics. “A great college atmosphere, academics, somewhere I can see me living for 4 years or more.” Is what he was looking for when he selected Clemson. And what he found including all the above and more. “The atmosphere, high academics and their system of tutoring, the football program are what I liked most at Clemson.”
