Terrance Smith – A 2011 Florida State Seminole Recruit

An outside linebacker from Decatur Georgia, Terrance Smith had offers from Florida State Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Georgia Tech just to name a few. He committed to the Florida State Seminoles on March 29th but is considered a soft verbal by some recruiting services. The 6’4” 210lbs prospect told us recently about his college recruitment.

By Steve Patterson

Smith believes his best football attributes include his speed and ability to get to the quarterback. “Speed, strength, and pass rush.” he explained to us when we contacted him. The highlight for him so far as a high school athlete was when he had a standout game. ”A game where I had 4 sacks and 14 tackles.” His statistics for last year included ”3.16 sacks 120 tackles”. Quite impressive that he was able to get to the quarterback over 3 times a game.

Smith’s recruitment heated up quickly when 2011 prospects became the next class to sign with college programs. And he wasted no time visiting the schools that had offered him scholarships. ”I've been to Clemson, Alabama,  Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Auburn.” His offer list is quite long including ”All SEC and ACC schools, Ohio State, and USC.”

Smith was looking for early playing time at a rising program. ”The opportunity to make an impact early and the chance to win the big game.” were most important to him when evaluating colleges. ”The coaches and the direction of their program.” Is what stood out about Florida State that led him to commit.
